About Us
The rapid development of information technologies in the 80s put on the agenda the issue of creating domestic storage devices of large capacity for personal and professional computers, information and computing systems for storing and processing large volumes of information and solving organizational management problems.
For this purpose, in order to improve the organization of work in the field of creating optical storage devices and their fastest introduction into the national economy in accordance with the resolution of the Council of Ministers of the USSR dated June 16, 1987 and the order of the Council of Ministers of the Ukrainian SSR dated July 15, 1987, the resolution of the Presidium of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR dated September 24 In 1987, No. 305, the Institute of Information Registration Problems of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR (IPRI of the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences) was established on the basis of the Department of Optical-Mechanical Memory Devices (Department of OMZP) at the Institute of Modeling Problems in Energy of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR (IPME of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR). The director of the institute was appointed Doctor of Technical Sciences Petrov Vyacheslav Vasyliovych, who before that headed the Department of OMZP, was the initiator of the creation of the institute and put a lot of effort into its establishment.
According to the resolution of the Presidium of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR No. 861 dated September 15, 1987, the IPRI of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR was entrusted with the implementation of works in the following main areas of scientific research activity:
– physical foundations, principles and methods of optical registration of information;
– optical storage devices for electronic computers, information and computing systems for storing and processing large volumes of information.
By the same resolution of the Presidium of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR No. 305, the institute was included in the Department of Mathematics and Cybernetics of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR and was entrusted with the scientific and methodological leadership of the Special Design Bureau of Optical Memory Devices with a Research Plant (SKB OZP with DZ) of the Ministry of Radio Industry, created in Kyiv USSR SKB OZP with DZ was created by order of the Ministry of Radio Industry of the USSR and the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR dated April 18, 1989. The director of SKB OZP with DZ was appointed A.A. Kryuchin By the same order, the Interdisciplinary Center for Computer Information was created on the basis of IPRI of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR and SKB OZP.
In 1992, the team of the SKB OZP of the Ministry of Radio Industry of the USSR joined the team of the Institute of Information Registration Problems of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
Today, the IPRI of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine includes four research and two scientific and technical departments.
The main areas of scientific activity of the Institute are:
– physical foundations, principles, methods and systems of registration and transformation of information, creation of technology for long-term storage of digital information;
– theoretical foundations and applied methods of creating computer information and analytical systems, research and development of information protection methods in computer systems and networks, creation of decision support systems;
– development of methods for creating a system of computer networks of data banks, databases and knowledge bases;
- creation of information reproduction systems from rare media;
– theoretical foundations and applied methods of computer modeling;
- creation of automated systems for monitoring multiple moving objects in real time.
The Institute employs 80 researchers, including 1 academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, 1 corresponding member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, 9 doctors and 24 candidates of sciences, 9 laureates of the State Prize of Ukraine in the field of science and technology, 5 laureates of the Prize of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine for the development and implementation of innovative of technologies, 5 scientists were awarded State awards, 3 scientists were awarded Certificates of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
At the institute, there is a post-graduate course program, where training is conducted in the specialty 123 Computer Engineering and 122 Computer Science. During the existence of the institute, more than 216 monographs, textbooks and manuals were published. In the last five years, about a thousand articles were published, and author certificates were obtained.
